Power Outages

Outages and issues

Power outages can occur unexpectedly due to issues like equipment malfunctions, severe weather conditions, or downed power lines. Occasionally, we may need to temporarily turn off your power as part of a planned outage to maintain the safety and reliability of the electricity network.

Unplanned power outages

If you experience a sudden power outage, please check our outage map to see if it has been reported. You can also verify if there is a scheduled planned outage at your address.

Report loss of power

Report a power outage and check our outage map for known issues. You can also report flickering lights and loss of hot water.

Report hazards

Fallen power poles or wires and zaps or tingles from appliances and taps are electrical emergencies. Understand the different types of electrical hazards and report them.

Planned power outages

Occasionally, we may need to switch off your power to replace ageing equipment, perform urgent maintenance, replace power poles, or connect new premises. While these outages can be inconvenient, they are essential for ensuring the safety and reliability of the electrical network.

Are you part of a planned outage?

We send an SMS or a postal letter to the electricity account holder at least four business days before a planned outage, with the outage's date, time, and duration. We have a planned outage list available if you'd like to review this information.

Life support equipment

If you rely on life support equipment, please register as a life support customer. For questions about your electricity supply, call 13 13 65 (Mon - Fri 9:00 am to 4:30 pm). During power outages or emergencies, call 13 13 88.

Faults and electrical issues

In a life threatening emergency, or in the event of an electric shock call 000 immediately. If you see fallen powerlines never approach them - stay at least 8 metres or 2 car lengths away and call us on 13 13 88.

Streetlight faults

Report a non-functioning streetlight and our crews will investigate and resolve the issue.

Tree inspections

Request an inspection of trees and vegetation growing close to powerlines and electrical equipment.

Pole inspections

Request a inspection of a power pole that may be leaning, deteriorating, rusted, or possibly have termites.

Zaps, tingles and shocks

Zaps, tingles, and shocks from appliances or taps are serious and can be life-threatening. Don’t hesitate, call 000.

Fallen poles or wires

If you see fallen poles or powerlines, never approach them. Stay at least 8 meters or 2 car lengths away and call us on 13 13 88.

Wildlife or objects on wires

We will remove objects and relocate and rescue animals injured or impacted by our electricity network.

Graffiti

Report graffiti on Ausgrid poles and electrical equipment, and we will send our maintenance crews to remove it.

Easement enquiries

Enquire about the permitted use of an easement as certain restrictions may apply.
