Ausgrid’s Community Giving Program has donated $125,000 to community and volunteer organisations across the Hunter, Central Coast and Sydney to enable them to better serve their communities.
The Community Giving Program invited our people to nominate local sporting teams, organisations and volunteering groups in their local communities to receive one of the 35 grants totalling $125,000.
This year, $77,500 is being given to organisations across the Hunter and Central Coast, and $47,500 to organisations across wider Sydney.
Ausgrid’s Group Executive of People and Culture Celina Cross said the program was designed to support the communities our people both live and serve.
“We were so happy by the number and quality of applications, and it is great to see how strongly connected our people are with the communities in which we operate,” Ms Cross said.
We’re thrilled to be able to support a diverse range of initiatives across our network as well as support our people’s work in their own communities.

Organisations who received funding included surf clubs, local sporting clubs, fire brigades, Scouts, and community service organisations including domestic violences shelters, women’s refuges and youth medical services.
Nominated organisation Jenny’s Place, a Newcastle based refuge helping local women and children find safety and relief from domestic violence and homelessness, received a $5,000 grant to host their annual Empowered Walk.
“We have been helping local women and children impacted by domestic violence and homelessness for over 46 years and there is no question that our service has experienced heightened calls for assistance from the periods of Covid lockdown through to today’s current economic downtown,” Jenny’s Place Executive Manager Marcia Chapman said.
“We’d love to create a sea of people in purple Empowered Walk shirts at the Newcastle Foreshore this Sunday. It’s a chance to show support for all the brave women and children impacted by domestic and family violence and to lift the volume on this major social issue which is currently claiming one woman’s life every week in Australia.”
Ausgrid’s Community Giving Program was launched to support the communities its employees live and work within.
