Major Projects

We are investing in our network to maintain a reliable and efficient grid that can meet future energy needs. We regularly consult with the community on our infrastructure projects.

Ausgrid is responsible for operating, maintaining, repairing and building our network of substations, power lines, underground cables and power poles, spanning 22,275 square kilometres across Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley. We are continually upgrading the network to ensure we can keep providing a safe and reliable power supply to our customers now and well into the future.

Under Part 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act), Ausgrid is delegated the authority to self-assess projects that are deemed Class 3, 4 or 5 activities. As an Authorised Network Operator, Ausgrid operates under relevant state and federal Government requirements, codes and guidance.
